Sprite Jubilee 2008 is being held in the heart of central Pennsylvania. It is a convenient and picturesque drive from most locations along the eastern seaboard and center of the country.

Years and years ago, hundreds of faithful SPRITE Newsletters enthusiasts were polled with an exhaustive questionnaire as to the best location to hold a super Sprite extravaganza. Understandably, the overwhelming majority chose a location that would be the closest to their home.

Lots of the Sprites from England were delivered to the eastern USA shores and most of them have taken up permanent residence in this area even after many years. Our GAHSR (Global Austin-Healey Sprite Registry) has recorded hundreds of Sprites in this part of the country. It is no wonder then that the gathering location site for all of our once every five years Sprite extravaganzas has remained in central Pennsylvania.

By coincidence the first Austin-Healey Sprite announcement date, May 20, 1958, also falls before or after the three day Carlisle Productions, Carlisle Import-Kit/Replicar Nationals in the city of Carlisle, PA. Visit Carlisle Productions at http://www.carsatcarlisle.com When we celebrate the Sprite’s birthday on the announcement date we also get the added pleasure of enjoying hundreds of foreign show cars, scores of vendors, tons of Sprite parts and many Spridget cars for sale. That is two shows in one!!! To visit the Carlisle Import-Kit/Replicar Nationals requires a separate registration fee obtained only at their website or at the entrance gate of their show.

Beginning at the end of 2005 and in earnest over the past months Cindy and I have been traveling to local resorts and conventions centers. Often we thought we had things settled only to have to visit them again two and three times. We have more than six proposals we are reviewing.

All four of our past events have been break even events. We only charge and collect the money needed to pay our group needs.

With finances in mind and desiring a nice setting to honor the Sprite Cindy and I talked with the site’s sales people. Over the years thing have changed drastically in the pleasure resort and convention center business. What was done with a hand shake back in 1988 is now done with scores of legal paperwork, hefty financial deposits and meals, accommodations, meeting rooms guarantees. Not something for the faint at heart to contemplate with out the faithful backing of hundreds of Sprite enthusiasts.

We wanted to keep the cost of room accommodations to a reasonable price. A price that other sports car events are getting. It appears the range is between $90 to $100 per double occupancy, not including the 8 % tax. This is a great price!!! This is quite a savings over the going cost of rooms during this time of the year in our area. The savings comes to about 26%. With May comes cool evenings and warm days and the start of family vacations, Hershey Park, Carlisle Production car shows, graduation proms and children’s soccer/baseball team tournaments.

Hotel Carlisle & Embers Convention Center is within four miles and only a few minutes from the Carlisle Import Show. At these reasonable prices you can afford to take in lots of the special Sprite events planned all over the USA and around the world in 2008.

Our resort has spacious rooms for our 50th anniversary evening banquet party, (We can celebrate with some of our little cars displayed all around us.), and hospitality, regalia, gathering and techincal session presentations and a place to play the fun skill driving games we like so much. All at a price that would keep us from not missing a once in a lifetime 50th event.
