GAHSR # 501 Priscilla is the original owner of this beautiful Bugeye. Here it is shown without the hardtop. Dave is the current president of Harrisburg Region of Austin-Healey Sports & Touring Club. Both are devoted Sprite lovers and drive their little car almost everywhere. Priscilla & Dave have helped tremendously with many aspects of our SPRITE gatherings.

Old Gray was bought as a high school graduation present in 1963. After only 1712 miles the son had a minor accident and dad made him park the car until the son could save up the money required to repair it. The son was drafted and evidentially like the Army and when his 2 years enlistment was up he applied to and was accepted to OCS. After completing OCS he was stationed stateside for 3 years before being sent to Vietnam. He was there only for three days before being killed in action. Old Gray sat in dads garage until 1997 when dad passed away. Mom sold everything at an estate sale in Delaware and moved to Florida. I have preserved the car as best as possible in memory of dad who kept it all those years and for his son, who gave his life in support of our country.

My wife and I do plan on attending the Sprite Jubilee. She graduated from High School in Kennett Square, PA so we'll be visiting there as well. Just bought the 65 Sprite from a friend who has been racing a HP Bugeye, and a Vintage Mk. II Sprite.

Joe Moses ... Arlington, VA

The middle Moses son. This is an old picture of Joe in his dad’s ‘60 Bugeye. Joe has a beautiful Cherry Red ‘58 Bugeye masterfully refurbished by Merryman Modifications, Hanover, PA. Joe is in dentistry too. He helps run his older brother’s pediatric dental office in Reston, VA, has surgery hospital privileges and helps when needed chairside. Joe lives in Arlington, VA. Oldest son of three in the Moses clan. This is a 1998 picture of Rick’s ‘59 Bugeye. This car was referbished by Frank Clarici. Rick now with shorter golden locks is a board certified pediatric dentist in Reston, VA and York & Gettysburg, PA. He lives in Arlington VA. Taking time away from his busy practices Rick will assist with a number of SJ08 events. I suspect he, his brothers and friends will do a superlative job of being in charge of the SPRITE version the popular late night partying and goings on in our Hospitality suite. In this picture (Terry Moses on the left) and Rick Moses stand over Rick's first little Bugeye called "hiding." Terry has supported Rick's efforts over all of the years SPRITE has been in existance. He is also a dentist and professional photographer and brought our dad to all our past meets. Dad (Dick Moses) passed away after Sprite Spree '03. Terry, Trish and their son Tim will run our SPRITE Regalia shop and take photos / video of our gathering. Trish has helped with the 30th anniversary announcement of the Sprite skit back in 1988. Tim is now of an age to fully enjoy our fun.

Attached a recent photo of the car, which is in its 34th year of a never-ending, never-completed restoration. (It is hard to do when you can't bear to take it off the road long enough...)

I hope to make to up to Carlisle for the Sprite Jubilee next year. Might even drive the bugeye, and see just how good the roadside service from Hagerty really is.

Now I'll tell you about the history of my sprites. I acquired my first 1961 bug eyed sprite (the green one in the picture) in 1978 from a close friend who had the car for about 5 years but never had the time to restore it. I restored the car to the best of my ability without doing anything to the engine, the transmission or the wiring. I drove it until 1992 and then took it all apart and did a proper restoration which included rebuilding the engine and transmission, replacing the complete wire harness re-chrome etc. In 1994 I received a phone call from someone who had a 1960 bug eye that needed a lot of work but he had no time to do it and since he had seen my car, he thought he would call me first before putting up for sale as he wanted it to go to a good home. I purchased the car (the white car in the picture) and restored it and when it was time to register the car to my name, I discovered that the serial numbers on both cars are only 4 numbers apart meaning that both cars were probably being assembled 4 cars apart in the assembly line and both ended up in my driveway many years later. The serial number for the 1961 is AN5 28587 and the 1960 is AN5 28583. I am planning to drive the 1961 to the Sprite Jubilee 2008.

10/1/07 Hi, Carol & I just got back from VIR (Virginia International Raceway) for the vintage races. One race had 5 Bugeyes. My daughter Kim and family came and joined us for the weekend. She has been working on her Bugeye and now that my 2 grandkids were there (10 & 8), they have stirred up an interest in the cars. I gave her the website for the 50th and we all are planning to be there again for the event.
Craig didn't drive his Bugeye for 8 years and shipped it down here in NC to me and it is almost on the road after such a long time being inactive. Had to replace all the cylinders, etc, etc. etc.
